Back to December 23rd 2018 for this stunning Christmas Left Bank Leeds wedding. Left Bank Leeds is a Grade II listed former church building in Headingley, Leeds. It also acts as a multidisciplinary arts venue, which is the sort of thing I love.

This was my 2nd wedding at the venue and I’m always bowled over by how impressive it is inside. It has all the grandeur and scale of a beautiful church but you can also feel the independent spirit of its new incarnation as an arts venue.

Pete & Louise were an utter joy to get to know and it was such an honour to be part of their wedding. this was the first of two wedding ceremonies they had with the 2nd in South Africa where Louise’s family were from. Unfortunately, they didn’t take me along for that one! 🙂 This was a humanist ceremony and included friends singing a duet.

Highlights for me were the epic standing confetti shot, and exploring the upper balcony of the church with the couple which you have to climb up a little stone spiral staircase to access and gives a unique viewpoint of the venue.

I photographed the wedding along with Alice my 2nd shooter for the day, who always does a great job at getting extra little details and moments of the day. I also filmed a highlight wedding film of the day including Super 8 film and stop-frame along with the digital footage.

Side note: I actually left a lighting stand in the car park after shooting the backlit portraits at the very end of the night. With this being pretty much that end of my season for the year and it being a piece of equipment I only very occasionally use I didn’t notice for 4 months! Luckily they still had it 🙂
